Peter H. Tilem, the senior partner at the law firm, handles a wide array of criminal, commercial, real estate and family litigation at the firm. Mr. Tilem has a depth of experience in these areas as a result of successfully handling many very complex and high profile cases.

Mr. Tilem started his legal career approximately 17 years ago when he was appointed Assistant District Attorney by Robert M. Morgenthau at the New York County District Attorney's Office. As a junior prosecutor, Mr. Tilem was responsible for prosecuting a very large caseload of misdemeanors committed within the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Mr. Tilem was responsible for the prosecution of DWI's, assaults, larcenies, prostitution and narcotics as well as many other offenses and handled the cases from arrest through disposition or trial. In 1993, Mr. Tilem received Grand Jury training at the Manhattan District Attorney's office and began prosecuting felony cases from arrest, through the Grand Jury presentation and disposition or trial. Soon after receiving Grand Jury Training, Mr. Tilem was appointed to the Welfare Fraud Unit. As a member of the Welfare Unit, Mr. Tilem was responsible for handing a normal caseload of felony cases and also prosecuted complex fraud cases committed against the City of New York, Human Resources Administration (HRA).

After leaving the Welfare Fraud Unit, Mr. Tilem was appointed to the Firearms Trafficking Unit in 1996. As a member of the Firearms Trafficking Unit, Mr. Tilem worked with members of the New York City Police Department, Organized Crime Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in the investigation and prosecution of complex firearms sale conspiracy cases. Mr. Tilem travelled to Virginia and Georgia as part of these investigations into the flow of illicit guns into New York. Mr. Tilem took several of these cases to trial and won convictions and long sentences on some of the most notable gun traffickers. Mr. Tilem also was responsible for interviewing people arrested with illegal guns in New York to ascertain the source of illegal guns.

During, Mr. Tilem's tenure in the Firearms Trafficking Unit, Mr. Tilem also maintained a heavy caseload of other serious felonies including, stabbings, shootings, vehicular assault, bribery, drugs, robbery, burglary and many other s and successfully took many felony cases to trial that ultimately led to convictions.

In 1998, Mr. Tilem received homicide training at the New York County District Attorney's Office and began assisting other homicide prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of murders and other homicides in Manhattan. In 1999, Mr. Tilem was assigned to the homicide chart and was assigned to investigate and prosecute homicide cases. As a homicide prosecutor Mr. Tilem received special training including extensive training in DNA evidence and the use of DNA evidence in capital cases.

In addition, to Mr. Tilem's other responsibilities as a Senior Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Tilem trained and supervised other Assistant District Attorney's, lectured at public schools and spoke at community affairs events . Mr. Tilem also taught a class at the New York City Police Academy entitled "Excellence in Police Testimony" in which he helped prepare police cadets to testify in real Courtrooms. Mr. Tilem received many honors from the New York City Police Department for his work.

In 2001, Mr. Tilem resigned his appointment as an Assistant District Attorney to pursue a career in the private practice of law and to co-found the law firm of Lenihan & Tilem in White Plains, New York. During his almost 3 years at Lenihan & Tilem, Mr. Tilem applied his extensive trial and investigative experience from the District Attorney's Office to criminal defense, commercial, family, real estate and estate litigation and quickly established himself as a formidable litigator both in civil and criminal cases. Mr. Tilem continued to take cases to trial and successfully litigated many and varied cases. During the 3 years that Mr. Tilem was at Lenihan & Tilem, the firm grew rapidly and Mr. Tilem met John Campbell, a new associate at the firm. While at Lenihan & Tilem, Mr. Tilem continued to represent client's involved in high-profile cases and appeared on CNN and 60 Minutes, as well as frequent interviews on Radio, Television News and in the Newspapers .

In 2004, Mr. Tilem and Mr. Campbell founded the law firm of Tilem & Campbell in Larchmont, New York and due to the rapid growth of the firm relocated to its current location in downtown White Plains in 2007. Mr. Tilem continues to handle a wide array of complex civil and criminal litigation including, real estate and commercial litigation, family litigation, estate litigation, and federal and state criminal defense.

Mr. Tilem is admitted to practice before the State Courts of New York and Connecticut and the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of New York, the Southern District of New York and the District of Connecticut. He has also been granted the honor of pro hac vice admission before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the New Jersey State Courts, and the Maryland State Courts.

Mr. Tilem also lectured as an adjunct professor in Kingsborough Community College in the area of business law.

Mr. Tilem was born and raised in the City of New York and attended New York City Public Schools through high school.
